The Shangri-La Toronto is hosting TIFF Afternoon Tea

There's more to do for TIFF than just hanging around scouring the streets for celebrity sightings. Feel like a star yourself by booking TIFF Afternoon Tea at the Shangri-La Toronto. Even on a regular day, cozying up in the plush Lobby Lounge of one of the most luxurious hotels in Toronto is already a treat. Flickering fireplaces year-round and the tinkling of a live pianist set the mood in the gorgeous flower-adorned space. 

During TIFF, the afternoon tea experience is all the more special, with a selection of bites and sips inspired by the festival's top flicks. For $98 per person, the Shangri-La Toronto's TIFF Afternoon Tea includes a selection of sweet and savoury bites, premium tea and your choice of mocktail or a glass of prosecco. When we visit, we opt for the sparkling, naturally.

When the first cake stand comes out, we think we're sharing, but then a second one appears. While the treats may be small, there are a lot of them. The mini deep-dish pizza has all the flavours of a delicious margarita pizza but in teeny-tiny form. The Golden Ticket Egg is a perfectly-crispy-on-the-outside and creamy-on-the-inside potato croquette. Scones come in sweet and savoury (with cheese and chives) iterations, served with clotted cream and apricot jam. 

On the sweet side, Harry Potter's Butter Beer is a smooth and creamy caramel explosion. Since I have a nut allergy, the Shangri-La Toronto accommodated me with the most adorable and delicious miniature chocolate fruit. Meanwhile, my mom tucked into chocolatey, nut-filled delights like Willy Wonka's Magic Mushroom (it looks like a tiny mushroom!) and Matilda's Chocolate Cake (a mini, decadent cake).

The Shangri-La Toronto's TIFF Afternoon Tea is a beautiful way to spend an afternoon and feel like part of the film festival action.
