Deauville Club: What's the vibe

Before I've even been seated, I'm enchanted by Deauville Club. Never have I ever seen a colour in the wild that matched millennial pink so perfectly. I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but trust me when I say this is one cover that makes you want to read on.

But the hidden second-floor dining destination inside the Revery hotel isn't just a beautiful shade of dusky pink. It's feminine and airy, with sweeping curves everywhere from the bar area to curved booths that make you want to order a glass of champagne, catch up with friends and ogle the wall of wine.

Everything is designed with intention — the tables are perfectly spaced for conversation, the lighting relaxed but not so dim that you're straining to read the menu. Romantic, design-forward and — sure, let's say it — Instagram-worthy, this is a secret you'll want to share with your besties.

Deauville Club: What's on the menu

The pink-hued interior isn't the only thing you may have spotted while scrolling social media. Chef Justin Raponi's French-fusion menu showcases decades of experience across Toronto’s dining scene, including time working alongside chef David Lee at Splendido and at Italian hotspot Ristorante 101.

Deauville Club's Marseille-Style King Shrimps dish is a Mediterranean melting pot that brings Provençal flair together with Italian influence. A saffron sauce and delicately sautéed fennel sit alongside sweet tomatoes and garlic, with bright citrus notes and crostini for dipping.

My favourite dish is the Lobster Orecchiette, featuring Nova Scotia lobster, Grana Padano and a silky chilli-cognac rosé sauce I genuinely cannot stop thinking about. It strikes the perfect balance between cozy Italian comfort and classic French brasserie energy.

Don't skip dessert, which is a serious flex from the Deauville Club team. The Mango Passionfruit Charlotte Dome is a showstopper and the perfect ending to a meal that's fairly carb-heavy. Meanwhile, sugar fiends will love the milk and dark chocolate layers in the Truffle Gâteau and the lemon-infused custard centre of the Madagascar Crème Brûlée.

Deauville Club: What to drink

The cocktails at Deauville Club don't lean towards one particular style or spirit — instead, each drink feels like a member of a girl band, ready for you to pick your favourite depending on your mood that evening.

Matcha Mon Ami channels the bright green beverage of the moment, while Café Amuse is Deauville Club's take on the ever-popular espresso martini, featuring Amaro Montenegro, Grand Marnier and tonka bean.

As you'd expect from a French- and Italian-inspired restaurant, the wine list is thoughtful and European-leaning, with plenty of champagne and rosé from Provence. Canada still gets a strong showing, though, with beautiful pours from Prince Edward County and Niagara.

I can only speak to Deauville Club's fabulous dinner menu, but the hotel restaurant also offers breakfast, brunch and lunch service. And with live music programming and new menus always popping up, reasons to return are in ample supply.

Dinner and drinks for two: around $150 before tip and tax.
