We all know someone who says they don't like sushi — but what if you could get the veggie- and protein-packed rice rolls without the raw fish? Bento's new Nashville Hot Chicken Roll skips the fish altogether in favour of fried chicken with a sweet heat, coleslaw, a dill pickle and crunchy pickle chips. Then, it's loaded with spicy mayo and even more Nashville sauce.

The East-meets-South fusion rolls up spicy, sweet, savoury and tangy notes into one delicious bite. If you've never been a fan of sushi, this is your chance to try a roll that's indulgent and approachable. And if you love sushi, this new innovation has to be on your foodie bucket list.

Nashville hot chicken at Bento

A convenient, familiar meal doesn't have to be mundane. Bento is making grab-and-go into something that's both quick and adventurous with interesting flavours, quality and variety.

These days, it's not enough to just put together a good dish — diners want to step out of their comfort zone and try fun new flavours and global cuisines. Bento delivers just that, pushing the envelope of what sushi can be and introducing eaters to exciting new flavour combinations while still drawing on the comforting and familiar. The Nashville Hot Chicken Roll takes the iconic Southern staple and reimagines it in a whole new way.

The new roll comes hot off the heels of the other new offerings Bento has launched to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, including Canada's first grab-and-go scallop sushi lineup. With a new Training & Innovation Centre that also opened this year, Bento is continuing to support its mission of culinary innovation, product development and training.

We discovered first-hand just how much skill, patience and attention to quality goes into hand-rolling each piece of fresh Bento sushi during our very own visit to the test kitchen at the Training & Innovation Centre.

Donning aprons and hairnets, we tried to follow every meticulous step to make the new Nashville Hot Chicken Roll in the test kitchen where it was conceived — and let’s just say the pros are professionals for a reason. Thanks to the quality of the fresh ingredients, our creations still tasted great, even if they weren’t made with the precision of the Bento team.

When it comes to takeout, consumer habits are changing, and Bento is developing the next generation of grab-and-go food to cater to this evolution. The brand continues to combine familiar favourites with adventurous new ingredients, flavours and creations on our plates — or takeout containers.

Today, it's bringing the heat with the Nashville Hot Chicken Roll, available for a limited time at Bento grocery, retail, and university campuses across Canada. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?
