There's something incredibly irresistible about eating a spoonful of that sugary raw cookie dough while you're preparing to bake a batch of cookies. Even having the dough in the fridge can be tempting to gobble down as a midnight snack. But it can be tricky to know which cookie doughs are safe to consume raw.

Luckily, Pillsbury has come to rescue all of our delicious raw cookie dough dreams. Now available across Canada, Safe To Eat Raw Cookie Dough is just that – perfectly safe and tasty to eat right out of the roll.

Made with heat-treated flour, pasteurized eggs and other high-quality ingredients, Pillsbury's Safe To Eat Raw Cookie Dough follows the same recipe that it always has – just with a slightly different manufacturing process. That means it has the same flavour we've always loved, but now we can enjoy the delicious dough as-is, or in warm, melty chocolate chip cookie form. Now you can bake your dough and eat it too.

Like an ice cream sandwich but better, this recipe for cookie dough sandwiches combines the best of both worlds. Ooey-gooey chocolate chip cookies swaddle cold, chunky dough for a flavour and texture combination that will knock your socks off. Best of all, you only need one ingredient: Pillsbury's Safe To Eat Raw Cookie Dough.

Ingredients

1 package (roll type) Pillsbury's Safe To Eat Raw Cookie Dough

Method

  1. Heat oven to 350°F (180°C). Spoon 12 tablespoonfuls of cookie dough 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Cover remaining cookie dough with plastic wrap; reserve in refrigerator.
  2. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  3. When ready to assemble sandwich cookies; remove and uncover remaining cookie dough from refrigerator and let stand at room temperature 10 minutes to soften. For each sandwich cookie, spread generous 2 tablespoons of softened cookie dough on bottom of 1 baked cookie. Top with second cookie, bottom side down; gently press together. Repeat with remaining baked cookies and softened cookie dough. Serve immediately.

For best results, enjoy cookie sandwiches the same day. Cookies turn out best when baked one sheet at a time on the middle oven rack.
