Some winery visits are a happy accident — a spontaneous stop on a long drive or a welcome pause on a hot afternoon. Others are the destination. This spring and summer, Trius is inviting guests to make the journey to Niagara-on-the-Lake, where food, wine and history come together in one memorable destination.
Set along Niagara-on-the-Lake's finest vineyards, Trius has been a pioneer in Canadian winemaking for decades. Today, the winery is as much about the experience as what’s in your glass. Whether you’re planning a weekend escape or a day trip, it’s a place designed for lingering.
Before you even arrive, there’s a legacy that defines Trius. In 1991, Trius Red was named the Best Red Wine in the World—a milestone that helped put Niagara on the global wine map and reshape perceptions of Canadian wine.
To mark the anniversary of that achievement, Trius is releasing its 35th vintage of Trius Red. “This wine is a reflection of true posterity,” says head winemaker Emma Garner. “That history is something we’re incredibly proud to carry forward.”

The Trius Red 35th Anniversary VQA 2024 vintage is crafted from a blend of estate-grown and locally sourced cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc. Each varietal is aged separately in French and American oak before blending and further aging, resulting in a wine with layered complexity in every sip.
Once on-site, the experience extends well beyond a tasting. Start with a walk through the property, glass in hand, and take in the setting — from the winery’s striking architecture to the sweeping vineyard views. Then settle in, whether that means a guided tour, a long lunch or an afternoon that stretches into evening.

As the weather warms, Trius becomes one of Niagara’s most dynamic event destinations. The Trius Sparkling Presents series brings together wine, music and film across a season of outdoor events — from summer concerts to movie nights under the stars, set against the backdrop of the vineyard. Trius has a way of making our regular lives disappear and turning a visit into a tradition.
No visit is complete without a reservation at the Trius Winery Restaurant, where executive chef Frank Dodd showcases Niagara’s seasonal ingredients.
The only Michelin-recommended restaurant in Niagara-on-the-Lake, it's also Feast On certified — meaning every dish reflects the region it comes from. Settle into the dining room or opt for the seasonal wine garden, where vineyard views stretch in every direction.

Come for the wine, stay for the food and events, and raise a glass to the Trius Red 35th Anniversary vintage — an enduring symbol of Canadian winemaking, and a reminder of how far Niagara has come. Here’s what to sip, savour and experience while you’re there.
